GIRAFFE Charm Necklace

Title: Giraffe Date: 2008 Materials include: Detail print of original art, wood disc, found objects, vintage objects Chain length: 18" This necklace features a detail print from one of my original paintings and several charms. This one is special because it features a 14k gold chain that I found while on a walk about 20 years ago, and a lovely red enamel butterfly charm that was given to be by a special boy many many years ago. I happened to find the giraffe charm on a necklace I found at a garage sale a couple years ago - a perfect fit for this necklace.
These necklaces start with a 1 1/5" wooden disc. A small detail print of one of my original paintings is secured onto the primed disc, enhanced with Derwent Inktense colored pencils and finished with Golden polymer varnish for colorfastness and moisture resistance. The backs of the discs are painted using acrylic pigments and then they are added to cord, chains, or my handmade necklaces. Each one is different, and each one has it's own story. And each is instilled with a little bit of magic.
